Our first test will be on September 4! As well as studying on Quizlet and Icivics, I have attached a chapter summary for you to review. You are not responsible for Lesson 1 of the chapter.
This week we will begin studying citizenship. By the end of the chapter students should know:
1. Who is a citizen? 2. How to become a citizen? 3. What are the rights and responsibilities of citizens? I have a Quizlet page set up to help with vocabulary throughout the year. These are the vocabulary words for the first three weeks of class. If you have not used Quizlet before it is an interactive site that helps with remembering terms. https://quizlet.com/class/1733142/ 1. All students received a workbook today that they were asked to take home. This book should stay at home with them. It will give them a chance to practice learning difficult topics. 2.. Quiz Friday, 10 words, matching. It is on academic terms handout given out in class and posted on this site on 8/18. 3. 6 students have been already been able to recite The Preamble (none have sung it or said it as fast as Mr. Garron). It has been great to get to know all my classes for this year. We are all working hard! You all know that you can recite the Preamble to the Constitution at any time before Oct. 22nd for credit on the assignment. This is the Preamble "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." Also, you should be logging onto Icivics. You should also be aware of what the quote is that motivates you the most (remember we discussed motivational quotes on day one). Tomorrow we will review some words that you should know. These words frequently appear on tests. We will have a short, stress-free quiz on these words on Friday. Here is a document with the words.

Hello, students and parents! On this page I will post as often as possible to let you know what is being covered in class. Our first week will be full of getting to know each other, classroom procedures and the textbook. We will discuss the EOC and strategies that will be useful throughout the year. On our home page is a primary source quote from James Madison, this is an example of a source that you may see on the EOC. Also on the home page you will see an American flag that contains the brief Preamble to The Constitution. All students have nine weeks to memorize and recite the Preamble. You may do it the first day of the semester or the last, but you have to do it. Here is our class syllabus. |
